The Courthouse: Architecture for the Public Good (2023) is an architectural
monograph that offers a comprehensive look at the new Amsterdam
Courthouse. This book is a statement and a call for more open, collaborative
designs made to last in the community they serve. Original essays and articles take the reader behind the scenes, documented by rich illustrations, construction photographs
and technical drawings. The primary goal of this publication was to emulate the
values of the Courthouse’s architectural design: openness, transparency,
and impartiality, and to do so it was paramount that the highly technical,
architectural floorplans, elevations and detail drawings be designed so that
the average reader could understand them. In doing so, it became clear that
the major design challege of this project was to create a balance between
the highly-technical, visual information and the serene images of the
courthouse itself.
